Quartz Sound Bowls

Much like yoga, sound - specifically vibrations of crystal or Tibetan bowls - may provide many of the same benefits: reduced anxiety and stress; improved sleep; reduced chronic pain; and increased mood and emotional well-being. Some studies, including the attached National Institutes of Health study, suggest sound may even improve brain plasticity.

An instructor at the first yoga studio I attended (now defunct) often used crystal sound bowls throughout Savasana, or Corpse Pose, which is the final pose in most yoga classes. The positive effects of this experience moved me to purchase a set of 440 MHz  crystal sound bowls. I, too, often use the bowls during Savasana and in conjunction with Restorative Yoga asanas.

Each bowl's sound wave is thought to connect to and resonate with one of each of the seven main chakras in the body and are said to clear the pathways of these energy centers. While listening with earbuds or speakers to these amazing bowls may decrease stress and invite relaxation, the real benefits come from the vibrations from the sound waves when experiencing them in the same physical space. Because sound bowls and yoga seem to share kindred benefits, it makes perfect sense to partner them during classes.
